Knee: Surgery
There are a wide variety of surgical procedures that involve
the knee joint from traditional open procedures to minimally
invasive surgical procedures like arthroscopy that use
special miniaturized instruments placed through tiny
incisions. Even surgeries like knee replacements are being
done through smaller and smaller MIS incisions with quicker
recovery.
Some of the more common knee surgical procedures involve the
following:
- Arthroscopic Knee Surgery
- Knee ligament reconstruction (i.e. ACL reconstruction)
- Patellar stabilization or realignment
- Repair of chondral defects (joint surface damage)
-microfracture surgery (done via arthroscopy)
-ACI (autologous chondrocyte transplantation) / Genzyme
-OATS or other “plug” procedutes
- Knee Replacements (may be standard incision or “MIS”-
minimally invasive surgery
-total knee replacement
-partial knee replacement (i.e. unicompartmental knee replacement)
-patellofemoral replacement
- Repair or torn or damaged tendons (i.e. tendinitis,
tendinosis or tendon rupture)and many more
