You are what you eat! We are just beginning
to realize the importance of nutrition when it comes to
your health. Proper nutrition can keep you healthy, add
years to your life and if you are an athlete, enhance
your performance. We all know the importance of exercise
in maintaining health, but equally important is
controlling and understanding more about what eats you
(i.e. stress and anxiety management) and what you eat
(i.e. what you put in your mouth-- liquids, solids,
vitamins, supplements etc.). Don't let faulty
sub-optimal nutrition be the missing piece in your
health puzzle.

The more you know about nutrition, the healthier you
will be. Click on some of these links to learn more and

More on the USDA's new Pyramids for healthy eating:
The
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has replaced its
old one-size-fits-all food pyramid with 12 different
pyramids that are geared to individual needs and
lifestyles. The interactive nutrition guidance system,
called My Pyramid Plan, includes a recommendation for
30 minutes of daily physical activity, represented by
the figure of a person climbing steps. The new pyramid
system also includes rainbow-colored bands
representing different food groups that run vertically
from the tip to the base. The old food pyramid had a
horizontal presentation of food categories that many
people found confusing. The new system makes 23
general recommendations regarding nutrition and
exercise, and 18 suggestions for children, senior
citizens and other special populations. To see what
nutrition plan is best for you and learn how the new
system works, check out:
